Not sure if anyone ever read my blog but I totally forgot I had one. Life was a little rock, than it got busy and now that I have remember this blog I think I will start it up again. I really suck at all thing tech but I will make an effort to post more.
I have really kicked it with the spinning my own yarn to weave and knit with. I am enjoying it more and more. I never have enough time to craft.
So the goal is to post once a week. I hope I will be able to post more but let’s start small.
So I have not entered a lot on my blog but I have been trying to keep busy. I just have been knitting working and taking care of my family.
I get such joy out of knitting that I sometimes think that my family does not understand how much it helps me. I love making pretty things for others to wear and if they like it that gives me an even better feeling. But knitting does more for me. It helps me take my mind off being so depressed and confused about what to do with my life. I feel that I have a great life at time then other I feel that I am missing something important. So for now I will knit and make pretty things for the world to wear.
I started this blog to be able to write about my knitting and the many other projects that I have but I have been so bad about this. I so so many things that trying to write about them is turning out to be a lot harder then I thought.
I need to be more constant about my blog. I love knitting, weaving and spinning. I even love my tomato garden in the summer and canning in the fall.
I am going to try harder and my blog, I am hoping that with my new gift (a laptop) from my brother I will be better at writting about my additions.
So I was told about this pattern called the Beekeeper’s Quilt. When I heard that it takes about a year to make it I stopped listening. Why would I want to spend a year making something? That is the question I kept on asking myself.
So I ran across the pattern on line the other day and yes that is right I am so doing it!
It is the cutest sinking blanket in the world. I think it will make a great baby blanket.
I have six hexagons made so far. It is going to be so cute. I will post picture soon of a finished one and what I have made so far.
So I was given this lovly old spinning wheel which needed a bit of work. I had no problem with that but I paid to have the work done and it look great but as soon as I tried to get it to work at home … no workie.
I take blame because I did not make sure it really worked before I took it home. I think I know what needs to be done. When I try to spin the fly wheel and the spool/bobbin move together and so the yarn does not go on to the spool/bobbin. I need them not to move together.
I have all this roving and wool I want to spin so I need to just stop wanting the spinning wheel to work and just use my drop spindle.
I work on the drop spindle last night and I have found out that I can get about 28 yards of yarn on it. I would prefer to have more yardage but I can work with this. Here is my 28 yards.
So I have been busy with canning, knitting and weaving. With a lack of a camera I have not been able to post pictures. But now armed with one I am going post some pictures.
The first three is my finshed work from my heddle loom. I love this scarf. It is extra long and soft and fuzzy.
The next three hat photos are from an enterlac pattern that I was in fear of trying. But my fear was no needed. I had so much fun doing them.
I deceided to buy a fleece. I have been going back and forth about it for some time now but I decieded to bite the bullet and do it. I am glad I did. I am very excieted to learn the process. I have 7+ pounds of raw wool. I have washed about 2 pounds. I would do the rest but I have no place to dry it. I have a co-worker who’s husband loves wood working and he might help me fix something up cheap.
The only thing that would make it perfect is if my spinning wheel was fixed. But that is being worked on so hopefully soon.
Here are some pictures. Is it not soo pretty?
